About Monte Verde

Monte Verde is a district of Camanducaia, the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais. Has access to the highway Fernao Dias, being far from the city of St. Paul about 168 kilometers, 30 of them on steep road.

In 2009 the government of Minas Gerais State is committed to improving the infrastructure of the region. An alternative option is the road that links the district of St. Francis Xavier SP, SP with access from Highway 50.

Monte Verde in 2008 won the title of best winter destination in Brazil and in 2009 the title of most romantic city in the vote organized by site and Viajeaqui Quatro Rodas magazine, published by Editora Abril.

Its landscape is highlighted by the Atlantic forest trees such as oak and ipe, but also has a subtropical plant mixed with these other, like the Paran pine or araucaria, cedars and among other trees not described here.

If Campos do Jordao is the Swiss state of Sao Paulo, Monte Verde is the state of Minas Gerais, for with a strong inflow of European immigrants to the higher areas has established a link climate and culture in relation to the daily life of those migrants who there have been decades since the advent of these.

Monte Verde rhymes with dinner by candlelight, fireplace, wine, but the little mining town at 1,300 meters altitude also combines with trekking, rafting and jeep and quad bike tours.

While the atmosphere of romance involves couples, who delight in fondues and walks through the narrow streets framed by pines and alpine-style buildings, families and groups of friends enjoying the trails to admire the privileged nature of the region.

The movement is intense in the winter months, when temperatures drop and prices rise. However, even in summer, the weather is mild and encourages the practice of activities such as trekking, climbing and horseback riding that lead to waterfalls, scenic peaks and stones - exciting ways to burn calories at breakfast gained at dinner.
