Arraial do Cabo is a city of the Brazilian state of Rio de Janeiro, in the Lakes Region. The coastal city is, and has an average elevation of only eight meters and was founded in 1985, after the emancipation of Cabo Frio. The municipality has 26,636 inhabitants, according to 2008 data from the IBGE.

Arraial do Cabo has some of the most beautiful features of the Brazilian coast, such as white sand dunes, restinga vegetation, lakes and crystal clear sea and beaches, and cliffs that act as lookouts to enjoy it all.

Whats more, although located in the Lakes Region and having as neighbors the chimes Cabo Frio and Bzios, the city has typical characteristics of a fishing village - even in high season the air of tranquility prevails.
